What’s a FAVS Score?

Why I don’t just rate the food.

When I review a restaurant, I’m not just looking at what’s on the plate — I’m looking at the entire experience.

That’s why every review on Dom C Reviews ends with a FAVS Score, which stands for:

F – Food 🍽️
A – Atmosphere 🎵
V – Value 💰
S – Service 🤝

Each category gets its own score out of 10, and together they create the overall rating that appears at the end of my reviews.

Why I Created the FAVS System

For me, food is only part of the story. A perfect dish doesn’t mean much if the service is cold or the atmosphere feels off.
On the other hand, I’ve been to places where the food was simple — maybe not gourmet — but the warmth, energy, and experience made me want to come back again and again.

That’s what the FAVS score is all about. It captures the full picture of dining — the people, the vibe, the price, and yes, the food itself.

Because let’s be honest:
If a spot serves 10/10 food but the service is slow and the bill makes your jaw drop, would you really rush back?
But if another place has amazing service, a fun atmosphere, and prices that make sense — even if the food isn’t five-star — I’ll probably be there again next weekend.

How I Score

Each category starts at 5 and moves up or down based on the experience:

  • Food: Flavor, freshness, creativity, and consistency
  • Atmosphere: Design, energy, cleanliness, and comfort
  • Value: Quality versus price — is it worth it?
  • Service: Friendliness, attention, and the overall care shown

The final FAVS Score isn’t about perfection — it’s about balance. It’s my honest take on whether the experience as a whole is worth your time (and your appetite).
